Project Summary / Description:
ACE is stepping up to meet the movement‚ need to protect the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) from attacks by fossil fuel interests and politicization of a divided Congress. Campaign purpose is to educate and engage youth in communities across the country about the bold climate policies the legislation brings to life. Given ACE‚ work this past summer to ensure the IRA bill was passed‚Äîvia activation and mobilization of our Youth Action Network‚ 1 million members‚Äîwe are in an ideal position to amplify the historic climate investments of the bill and mobilize our youth network to demand accountability from their representatives for swift and equitable implementation. It‚ clear that people are not hearing enough about the IRA‚Äî32% of voters surveyed by Data for Progress knew that the bill provides clean energy tax credits to catalyze wind and solar development, and 63% have not seen any political ads related to the bill.

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
This campaign‚ strategic messaging will connect communities across the country with information on the tools and resources unlocked by the IRA‚Äîensuring young people, especially those in historically disengaged and disenfranchised communities including youth of color and those living in rural communities, can access these historic investments and demand their local leaders be held accountable to its equitable implementation. At ACE, we know that there is enormous opportunity in the IRA‚ hundreds of pages, but we also understand that navigating what it means and actually accessing its resources will be a challenging barrier to communities chronically underinvested in and traditionally underrepresented in the movement. By educating the public about the IRA provisions we aim to empower these communities to ensure they have access to the bill‚ historic investments and aren‚ t sidelined in its implementation. Additionally, with the understanding that communities most impacted by racial injustice and social inequity are also those most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, we place particular focus on supporting their voices and power within the global climate movement. Our influencer marketing approach redistributes resources from social media corporations and instead invests directly in diverse youth influencers to engage their networks on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch, and other youth-centered social media platforms to educate their followers and inspire peers to join them in taking civic and climate action.
