Project Summary / Description:
The Thehthi-Valbona community is seeking further support with provision and supplying with water heaters and solar energy producing panels to fill the gap of the lack of the energy during the tourist period and avoid using fossils for heating and domestic demands. AlbaForest is familiar with their demands and has prepared a further implementation Proposal for fulfilling all families demands, during 2023-2025. The main aim is to introduce alternative energy sources, in the form of solar energy panels and solar water heaters, to domestic holiday accommodation and settlements associated with the tourism industry. Domestic tourism developing houses will be supplied to use solar energy panels and solar water heaters panels to reduce CO2. This project‚ aim and objective is to assess the feasibility to use a photovoltaic system for drinking water supply and lightning in the tourist area of Thethi & Valbona NPs, Northern Albania.

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses), Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption), Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)
Best Estimate of GHG Avoidance/Reduction of This Project (Tonnes CO2 Equivalent/Year):
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
"AlbaForest" as the project-developing organization and leader of the project and therefore is the organization-responsible for the planned project activities management and organization, follow-up, monitoring and evaluation, preparation of progress-reports. There will be a WG established from ALBAFOREST to monitor and evaluate the project implementation. "AlbaForest'" will closely collaborate and has preliminarily agreed and signed agreements with management staff of the Thethi and Valbona Communities and individual families, Project sustainability as the fact that it would apply mainly and eventually in domestic tourism developing families of Thethi and Valbona NPs tourist area, who are already saved and surfaces with all parameters of an elite tourist area there is a sustainable development of the project. The project can be replicated and in the case of other similar areas of priority tourism for solar energy introduced to replace gas and coal uses in tourist areas of Albania. Cooperation and coordination of the planned activities with interested partners and beneficiary. Concrete results expected through implementation of this project can be used as a promotion of such an innovative method and way of supplying the warm water and renewable energy for the other interested toursit areas of the region and country. Produce and consumption of pure and renewable energy will have a positive impact in energy consumption for the local population, impacting health and wellness.
