Primary Project Category:
Project Summary / Description:
The level of CO2 in the atmosphere increased because of the flue gases, CO2 of the facilities and fossil fuel based greenhouse gas emissions in transportation, aviation, marine. Discharging of the industrial wastewater, sewage from the same facilities into the oceans is creating mucilage, eutrophication, ocean acidification, and deoxygenation. So ALGBIO treats wastewater, sewage and captures CO2 with microalgae to produce biofuels, bioplastics, biomaterials and generate carbon credits. For 1 acre of algae, it has potential to remove up to 2.7 tons of CO per day. ALGBIO treats wastes by using phycoremediation up to 95% to protect biodiversity in life below water. ALGBIO enables the transition from fossil based economy to sustainable manufacturing for production facilities by providing waste management, carbon capture and renewables, provides companies to comply with greendeal targets, waste and emission regulations and make themselves carbon neutral.
Regions of Operations:
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses), Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption), Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)
Best Estimate of GHG Avoidance/Reduction of This Project (Tonnes CO2 Equivalent/Year):
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
ALGBIO creates circular economy model by producing biofuels from wastes and capturing CO2 simultaneously. Algbio is also capable of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx), sulfur oxide (SOx) in the flue gas and generating oxygen with algae. For 1 acre of algae, Algbio has the potential to remove up to 2.7 tons of CO per day. So ALGBIO helps to reach the net carbon zero target in the industry by reducing GHGs by improving air quality with CO2 capture. Algbio provides companies to comply with Greendeal targets, waste and emission regulations and make themselves carbon neutral (G13:Climate Action, G15:Life on Land, G11:Sustainable Cities-Communities). Algbio performs the wastewater treatment by removing nitrogen, phosphorus, dissolved organic carbon, biological oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand by up to 95%. So Algbio prevents environmental problems in ocean including mucilage, eutrophication, ocean acidification, deoxygenation and protects the biodiversity both in life below water and on land with advanced industrial biological wastewater treatment called phycoremediation (G14:Life Below Water, G6:Clean Water- Sanitation). Algbio creates clean bioenergy and sustainable cities-mobility by eliminating exhaust emissions with the biofuels it produces (G7:Affordable-Clean Energy). By collaborating with more than one industry (waste treatment), ALGBIO forms a consortium and produces import-substituted bioenergy by reducing foreign dependency on energy in all countries where it produces with domestic biofuel production so it provides economic growth with energy production (G9:Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, G17:Partnerships for the Goals,G8:Economic Growth).

Measurement, Reporting & Validation
Algbio A.S. was established on 07.05.2021 in Istanbul, Turkey. Algbio has an active pilot carbon capture and waste treatment project area with a total volume of 5 tons in Istanbul (You can view it in the supplementary files and on the pitch deck). Algbio Inc. was established on 11.28.2022 in the US. Algbio also aims to test the active prototype system with US-based potential customers and partners by renting a wet laboratory and prototype area with its membership in Greentown Houston. ‚Äã‚ÄãWith Keeling Curve, its aim is to integrate its industrial customers by moving its operational volume to the Houston and Boston regions with its Greentown membership, MassChallenge, its supporters such as US Department of State, VentureWell etc.
