Project Summary / Description:
The Arctic Ice Project is developing an innovative, safe, impactful technique to enhance the Arctic‚ natural ability to reflect solar radiation, while boosting the Arctic‚ naturally occurring biological carbon sink. The Arctic sequesters over 58 megatons of carbon annually. Focusing on increasing the Earth‚ albedo through the growth of Arctic ice, this project presents an opportunity for a materially impactful reduction of atmospheric carbon. By restoring ice in specific strategic areas of the Arctic this project represents a planetary carbon lever to stabilize the climate, and buy time for policy and society to convert to low carbon reliance.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Because saving the Arctic and the planet involves everyone, gender and diversity is part of the DNA of the Arctic Ice Project. We focus on direct work and collaborations with the best individuals in their field. The result is a highly diverse and inclusive culture and team at the Arctic Ice Project. The Founder and CTO is a woman, as is the CFO, roughly half of our lead scientists, and 50% of our Board members. In addition, the Arctic Ice Project works closely with Arctic indigenous peoples particularly the Inuit community in Alaska, and seeks to expand this collaboration to additional indigenous communities throughout the Arctic.
