How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
We enhance holistic human settlements and regenerative livelihoods in Kibwezi through Permaculture and alleviate malnutrition by promoting Intergenerational Knowledge and skills transfer to different target groups especially women through food communication. We advance social good and preserve biodiversity by promoting beauty, community, environment, healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyles. Thus enhance capacity of community to be transformed by knowledge and skills gained

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
We are a unique trusted travel companion in the journey to the roots of Food and Nutrition Sovereignty. We give wild plants and food forests a voice as powerful catalysts for regenerative livelihoods: Creating edible landscapes, improving health and beauty while advancing social good and preserving biodiversity for posterity. We take an innovative approach to development; combining Permaculture and Regenerative entrepreneurship. We work with local partners on Food and Nutrition Security as well as Sustainable livelihood through training for transformation: Food communication, Permaculture, Natural Medicine, Knowledge and skills transfer alongside offering Blended and online training. We also champion wild harvesters and small holder farmers to amplify their voice in the community; the mainstreaming of regenerative livelihoods in a bid to alleviate extreme poverty, hunger and malnourishment/ lifestyle diseases besides protecting endangered plant species. Sail with us! BACKGROUND The Ark of Food and Nutrition Sovereignty (AFANSO) was born out of the need to attain food sovereignty in Kibwezi and its environs. There has been prevalence of hunger, malnutrition and the rise in Nutritional /Lifestyle diseases among members of different age groups of the people of Kibwezi in the last decade. Frequent premature deaths as a result of nutritional/lifestyle diseases and aggravated food insecurity add to the already widespread poverty prevalent in most parts of Kibwezi. The people of Kibwezi have changed their lifestyles due to the hamburger syndrome and improved technology. Unlike in the past where the main source of livelihood entailed manual jobs which exercised the body, most livelihoods these days involve sitting down for many hours. Eating habits have also changed with many people consuming junk foods from the many fast food outlets and street foods available. Frequent droughts and inadequate appropriate technology make the achievement of zero hunger for the Kibwezi community a mirage. AFANSO works with poor and vulnerable households/women groups to revive the production and consumption of traditional foods such as millet, sorghum, cassava, Arrow roots, sweet potatoes etc. Food forests will be established at demonstration sites to encourage replication and campaigns to conserve endangered plant species such as Baobab, Tamarind, Pomogrades, among other traditional wild foods to be promoted. The organization will also use permaculture to ensure targeted villages in Kibwezi implement holistic human settlements for a sustainable food system leading to regenerative livelihoods.
