Project Summary / Description:

Imagine, Simone Chandra, a successful professional, a home maker and mother of 2. Her son calls & asks for snacks to entertain a friends‚ stay-over. Simone, happy to oblige, stops at the best cake shop to pick up some perfect stay-over snacks. Suddenly she GUILTILY realizes she is without her reusable carry bag. ‚ Oh! what the heck‚ she says, rolls her eyes and pays an additional 10 cents for the single use bag. This ONE act is replicated millions of time across the world and is part of 5 trillion single use bags used and tossed in 15 minutes, annually. That‚ a whooping 160,000 a second!!

What if you can magically swish out a reusable bag when you need it most. AND it TELLS you how YOU changed the climate?

We train and employ local micro women entrepreneurs in our supply chain
Training is provided on Zero waste production
We work with rural farmers and microentrepreneurs in procurement of our 100% natural and compostable areca products
Our employees at the warehouse are from lower economic backgrounds where we train them with a long term vision of enabling them to be managers and entrepreneurs.
One of our important goal posts is to develop the next generation of sustainability champions, and hence we work with colleges and schools in awareness building activities about climate change etc.
Our Astu EcoBEAT you tube series, calls for children from across the world to showcase one sustainable habit they have adopted and how others can adopt the same.
