Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our target groups involves, 1.Bodaboda operators-These are young people who operates the business of ferrying people and goods for last mile connectivity while penetrating remote areas where normal vehicles could not get access. They use fossil fuel motorbikes. However, these motorbikes are expensive to maintain in terms of fuel and repairs making them not profitable hence the choice for Electric motorbikes which are less expensive to maintain and are Eco-Friendly. 2.Taxi Operators-Fossils fuel three wheeler tuk tuks has been widely used in Kenya and the region for taxi services as well as ferrying items from one point to another.Ranging in hundreds of thousands, this mode of transport is widely used for small scale logistic purposes and last mile connectivity both in Urban and Rural setup. However, just like fossil fuel motorbikes, they are highly pollutant and costly to repair and maintain. Our company replaces these with more Eco-friendly electric three wheeler tuk tuks which are also less expensive to repair and maintain. In general,by locally manufacturing the above products as well as retrofitting the existing fossil fuel ones, our company breaks away from the traditions around this mobility sectors by transitioning to a more environmentally friendly mobility that gears up towards the aspirations of the SDG 11 on climate actions. We are set to convert the more than 2.6Million motorbikes already in the market to electric as well as more than 900 tuk tuks in operations in Kenya. This will include setting up solarised charging sheds and service stations spreads across the 2000 wards in Kenya.
