Project Summary / Description:

Avol Aerospace is an electric aircraft company started in 2023 to make goods and services more accessible worldwide by reducing the cost of air transport. The key to doing this is reducing the required fuel and labor for flight, which constitute 50% of all air transport overhead. To do that, Avol builds autonomous, electric aircraft with 71% lower operating costs, and uses these aircraft to provide a best-in-class air cargo transport service. In addition to reducing air transport costs, Avol‚ revolutionary blended-wing design also reduces in-flight emissions to zero. By creating a compelling air transport service driven by zero-emissions aircraft, we believe we can accelerate the world‚ transition to clear air flight by the year 2050.

By significantly reducing the cost of air transport by 71%, this opens up global trade routes previously inaccessible for small businesses. Specific high impact areas include remote/rural areas that are inaccessible by road infrastructure, such as 82% of the towns in Alaska, island chains like Haiti or Puerto Rico, and remote towns in the midwestern United States. Air transport to these regions often can cost up to $2000/flight hour ‚ our equivalent service is competitively priced at $600/flight-hour to provide greater accessibility to medicine, food, and resources.

Avol Aerospace builds autonomous, electric blended-wing aircraft. We provide air cargo transport services with 71% lower costs, 60% higher cargo capacity, and more routes than current incumbent airlines by leveraging the high aerodynamic efficiency and low operating costs of our aircraft. We are headquartered in Brooklyn, NY and are starting with inter-island cargo routes around Hawaii, Rhode Island, Los Angeles, and the Caribbean Islands.
