Project Summary / Description:
Our project was conceived because of the need to solve the problem of wastes in urban areas and the need to solve the energy poverty that is experienced in the rural areas. Our project is structured in a way that the phases and components will be implemented according to the capacity of the company. Our initial phase is the buy and sell phase. The next phase is the subscription phase where we contract farmers to use concentrated solar thermal (sol5) and ultimately the final phase which is to establish the whole system (MEDCURBZ) where there will be an energy production component.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project gives more income to the farmers/farmer cooperatives by allowing them access to sustainable technology to process their raw agricultural products. Right now, we cater to a women‚ cooperative that process cashew nuts. We gave them one sol5 unit to roast their cashew and we buy the final product which we sold to retailers. It is not only saving them money, it also deals away with smoke inhalation due to burning of firewood. Furthermore, Four out of ten members of the CarbonCycle team are women.
