Project Summary / Description:
Channing St. Copper company is an energy automation company that decreases costs and accelerates the deployment of energy storage by integrating batteries into household appliances to create energy-storage-equipped appliances. The first product is an energy-storage-equipped electric induction range that electrifies your kitchen and removes toxic natural gas without costly infrastructure upgrades. Natural gas cooking is responsible for large CO2 emissions, poisons indoor air quality, and is implicated in childhood asthma. Replacing gas ranges with induction electric can reduce emissions, electrify US households, and provide energy storage if combined with batteries. Installing an induction electric range often has high costs: electrician‚ work, expensive high-amperage wiring, and sometimes an electrical upgrade. Our energy storage equipped product allows installation of a new induction electric range using the existing receptacle and without upgrades. The company was formed in 2022.

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses), Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)
Best Estimate of GHG Avoidance/Reduction of This Project (Tonnes CO2 Equivalent/Year):
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
1) By offering a cost-effective and convenient solution to the challenges posed by traditional gas ranges, our project makes it easier for people of all backgrounds to switch to clean, efficient electric cooking. This is especially important for climate vulnerable and historically disadvantaged communities who may not have access to the resources needed to make costly electrical upgrades. Our solution eliminates these barriers and empowers people to take action in support of a cleaner and healthier environment. 2) Our project promotes gender equity by removing toxic natural gas from the household. Women and children are disproportionately affected by indoor air pollution caused by gas cooking, making our solution particularly beneficial to these groups. By providing a clean and safe alternative to gas cooking, we are empowering women and children to live in healthier environments and making a positive impact on their well-being. In conclusion, our project to integrate batteries into household appliances is empowering those traditionally underrepresented and disadvantaged communities by providing a cost-effective and convenient solution to traditional electric appliance installations.
