Project Summary / Description:
ChargeNet Stations was founded in December of 2019. ChargeNet is at its core, was created to fight climate change on the agriculture, transportation, and power generation fronts -the three largest carbon contributors in the world. In the transportation sector, EV adoption would decrease carbon emissions. Specific to EV adoption barriers, there is currently a lack of accessible EV fast-charging infrastructure, the currently available infrastructure cannot support faster-charging speeds, and EV drivers have mundane experiences charging their cars. All of these are barriers to EV adoption. ChargeNet encourages the growth of sustainably-minded restaurants and of electric vehicle (EV) adoption by pairing the two together: EV drivers are encouraged to go to plant-based restaurants and EV chargers stimulate the growth of EV adoption. ChargeNet will place DC fast chargers at the plant-based restaurant, building out the EV fast-charging infrastructure and supporting the fastest charging speeds while providing drivers with an exciting experience (eating at a restaurant, with food delivered directly to their car window). ChargNet tackles carbon generation by offsetting the majority of restaurant and EV charger electricity load with solar and energy storage. ChargeNet's control algorithms will be used to optimize the use of solar and energy storage to save the most energy and money for the customer. In particular, data collected at the restaurant will be used in these algorithms to maximize energy savings.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
ChargeNet intends to locate many sites in disadvantaged communities. Most disadvantaged communities are along major transportation routes, making them ideal locations for charging stations that support passenger, fleet, and commercial EVs. Locating ChargeNet Stations in these disadvantaged communities will stimulate employment by creating skilled jobs in renewable energy to install and maintain our charging depots. It will also reduce the amount of internal combustion engines by providing multifamily dwelling residents, fleet, and commercial EV operators a place to charge. This gives these communities the opportunity to endorse the sustainability mindset and incentivizes more plant-based items at quick-serve restaurants. All three co-founders are passionate about diversity and firmly believe diversity leads to high company success. As part of their diversity initiative, ChargeNet will have a female Chairwoman of the Board and look for diverse hires.
