Project Summary / Description:

This project was formed based on our City's commitment to identifying and deploy alternative, efficient and clean power sources. The police department developed a passion for assisting with this objective by researching the feasibility of deploying an all electric police vehicle. A first of its kind pilot program was launched resulting in the conclusion that all-electric vehicles are suitable alternatives to conventional gas powered vehicles.

The City of Fremont's Police Department is committed to actively recruiting female officers and officers from diverse backgrounds. This project has drawn the interest of the media in addition to our local and national community. As a result our department has utilized the interest in this project to recruit qualified diverse law enforcement professionals. Once this program is scaled up, we anticipate significant savings in fuel and maintenance cost which will allow for other community based initiatives to be funded and supported. .
