Presently a conundrum exists that is preventing mainstream debt from entering several Sustainable Energy segments: companies operating in the sector are hampered by the lack of debt in their ability to scale. However, due to lack of scale, the existing debt providers remain wary of entering the sector and are unable to meet the requirements of the segments. 

Furthermore, the capital needed in new Sustainable Energy segments, needs to be long term and moderately priced (inline with the underlying economics). Most traditional financiers are unable to provide this kind of capital. 

In order to solve these 2 problems, cKers Finance was set up to be a market maker platform for Sustainable energy segments that creates innovative financial products that are needed.

By design, cKers Finance is promoting the scale-up of decentralized sustainable energy systems. These include areas such as: 
. roof-top solar in residential and small and medium enterprises 
. solar pumps 
. renewable micro-cold storages 
. electric vehicle fleets 

All these areas create local employment (for installation and ongoing maintenance). 

In some cases where the beneficiary is using the clean energy for productive purposes (e.g. for micro cold chains or mini grids), further employment is generated. 

About 25% of cKers Finance's portfolio promotes energy access in under-served areas. The remaining is rooftop solar for small industries/ schools/ hospitals, floating solar, energy efficiency ESCOs, etc. 

While cKers Finance does not consciously focus on gender diversity, it is an outcome given the diverse areas that cKers works on.
