Project Summary / Description:
The mission of the Climate Restoration Safety and Governance Board (CRSGB or the Board ) is to ensure that activities to restore a sustainable climate are safe, effective, and ethical. The Board‚ vetting is intended to give investors, insurance companies, policymakers, and the public confidence in climate restoration projects. The mission includes making sure that all stakeholders for climate restoration are informed, heard, aligned to the goal, and have their concerns addressed. Since there is no government body responsible for climate restoration, CSGB was established by people and organizations committed to the continuation of humanity. Participation and compliance are both voluntary, enforced by peer pressure and a free press (because voluntary governance evokes collaboration). The CRSGB was founded by Peter Fiekwosky and Ilan Mandel, who have been working to develop the climate restoration ecosystem for 6+ years.

The only climate justice is climate restoration - only by restoring a safe & healthy climate we can ensure that no one is harmed by climate change, especially climate-vulnerable communities. Specifically, the CRSGB includes on its review panels representatives from youth, faith leaders, indigenous / first nation leaders, affected communities, and ethicists, to make sure that all stakeholders have a seat around the table and their voice is heard.

Mission Statement:
The Climate Restoration Safety & Governance Board (CRSGB) provides oversight and accountability for large-scale projects that restore the climate. It is a global organization. CRSGB publicly reviews climate restoration proposals and projects to verify that they are safe, effective, legal, and ethical. Health and environmental specialists analyze safety; appropriate scientists and engineers review for efficacy. Ethics are vetted by representatives of first nations, faith leaders, youth/young leaders, environmentalists, scientists, economists, and political groups. Data, analysis, and opinions are all made public, with the exception of proprietary details. Reporting is both for the benefit of technical groups taking action and for informing and educating non-technical concerned groups to allay fears and elicit valuable perspectives. Projects are monitored twice a year for safety and efficacy, with reports on progress and suggested course corrections publicly available on the board‚ website.
