Project Summary / Description:
In early 2019 CGC was asked to support multiple US Senators on national green bank legislation. This became the National Climate Bank Act as introduced by Senators Markey and Van Hollen and Rep. Debbie Dingell. The bill has now been included in the broader CLEAN Future Act. There is growing support on Capitol Hill and among key stakeholders that the Climate Bank is a no-regrets policy with potential for bipartisan support. Given the achievement of these critical milestones in 2019, CGC must now aggressively expand its campaign to ensure the Climate Bank is a priority policy in 2021.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
It is a requirement of the National Climate Bank to invest at least 20% of its capital into ""climate-impacted communities"". This is specifically meant to ensure that the Climate Bank supports environmental justice and underserved communities. This means not only making low-cost, clean energy accessible to all Americans, but also to deliver economy-stimulating investment, business growth and good jobs to those communities.
