Project Summary / Description:
De-Olivette's provides decentralized energy and waste management solution for rural communities through waste to energy conversion. Our products called the SMAB Series are prefabricated mini-biodigester and bio-hardware, specially designed to converts organic waste into biogas and bio-fertilizer. With our add-on devices, biogas is instantly converted into cooking gas and electricity. Our biodigester systems called SMAB serves the multiple purposes of reducing environmental pollution, generating energy and high grade fertilizer for families and famers. Our family-scale, village-scale, and community-scale energy solution offers an attractive route to utilize certain categories of biomass for meeting energy needs for energy-deprived communities.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Temperature increase and changes is creating series of problems for local farmers and small farm holders, especially female farmers in Nigerian and African rural communities. As a fellow farmer, I understand the challenges these helpless strands face. The yearly Harmattan which is often from middle-December to January in sub-Saharan Africa now lingers into March, and sometimes reappears suddenly in May and June. No farmer ever planted during the Harmattan periods, and seeing it blowing like a frigid pollution in the peak of farming season is a total threat to the livelihood of millions of farmers and rural communities. While there is greater attention on the heat waves in Northern Nigerians, farmers in Southern Nigeria had to live with the opposite side of such weather. For over 10 years, there have been continuous monstrous rainstorms, flashfloods and other annual disasters that have destroy the livelihoods of millions of communal farmers. In 2018 alone, over 100,000 farms were destroyed in just one state in Nigeria (msn.com). Our Project: Our project called DEEEP: 'De-Olivette's Eco-Education, Energy & Empowerment Project' is a Zero-Waste, Waste to Energy Conversion & Climate Change Awareness Project. DEEEP trains farmers, community, businesses, schools and agrarian communities to embrace sustainable agriculture, renewable energy & women empowerment plus Environmental Education. It showcases our innovation (SMAB Biodigesters and bio-hardwares), and how it can help communities generate biogas and bio-fertilizer from organic waste. We provide technical training on how this gas can further be converted into cooking gas and electricity. We further educate them on how to use the electricity to preserve their farm produce while training farmers how to harness the bio-fertilizer byproduct of SMAB Biodigester. OBJECTIVES De-Olivette Enterprise yearly collaborates with different organizations and communities such as Itori, Alaja, Ososun, Ifo, Ayetoro, Ibeshe, and others to teach extremely hard to reach communities, farm settlements and schools about how to protect the environment, Climate Change, and provide them with skills on how to convert their farm, home and community waste into renewable energy and compost through the use of our biodigesters. This way, we encourage cleaner, safer, and healthier ecosystems, while reducing pollution, deforestation, while mitigating Climate Change which often affects small farm holders. Since 2018, we have worked with over 100 communities through Project DEEEP and reach over 5,000 farmers, most of whom are women through DEEEP. Technical Objectives We sensitize and educate hard to reach communities, and small farm holders design, especially women farmers to stay updated and develop all the required components and sub-systems for SMAB biodigesters usage in their homes, farms and communities. These communities are energy deprived and often burn dangerous materials and trees to generate power. They also have challenges with managing animal, human and farm waste which are often in abundance within the landfill and rivers of these communities. Ultimate Goals: To reach vulnerable communities and touch the lives of over 100,000 farmers and families 2030 by providing easy and affordable access to renewable energy with an aim to curbing hunger and protecting the environment.
