Project Summary / Description:
Our Girls' Education program helps by providing resources for girls to get their education including tuition sponsorships, books, school supplies, tutoring, food, solar lighting, and transportation. Develop Africa has been successful in our Girl's Education program since we began in 2010. Funding will go to support these continued efforts.

In Africa, women are disproportionally affected by poverty. This is due to the lack of education offered to impoverished girls. Develop Africa‚ intervention empowers girls and women through educational opportunities. Being educated women offers the opportunities to hold positions of power and influence in their community. This gives women in Africa the ability to rise out of poverty and live with their families in neighborhoods less affected by climate change. This also gives more women the power to push for positive change in their communities.

Mission Statement:
Develop Africa‚ vision was born out of the vision that human resource development is the key to improving nation-building capacity in Africa. We strategically empower lives in Africa by providing educational opportunities and strengthening self-reliance so that individuals, families, and communities can create positive change in their own lives. Without our intervention, the girls we serve would be at risk of undesirable life paths like crime or early marriage/motherhood. Since in Africa, boys are given preference when it comes to education too many girls are left behind and become vulnerable. We change their destinies by giving them choices they wouldn't otherwise have.
