Project Summary / Description:

Scope 3 supplier emissions make up 50%+ of overall corporate emissions. However, this emissions category is often inaccurately measured. Existing measurement techniques most often use spending data, coupled with industry-level emissions factors, which does not allow for accurate measurement.

Our software allows companies to directly query their suppliers by email regularly to get information about emissions. For suppliers that do not measure their own emissions, our software sends them assessments to help them measure emissions.

This approach to supplier emissions measurement has two advantages. First, it is more accurate than use of emissions factors. Second, it allows for more consistent supplier engagement on emissions issues.

We think one of the most important reasons small businesses in underrepresented communities do not currently measure emissions is because emissions measurement software generally costs $3,000-20,000 annually.

With our approach, corporations will be able to pay for their suppliers to measure their emissions using our assessments (free to the supplier). This has the potential to catalyze more widespread emissions measurement by underrepresented small businesses.
