Project Summary / Description:
ecoAmerica‚ strategy, Local Action National Purpose (LANP) was formed in 2021, and it is designed to empower and engage local affiliates of national organizations and their millions of members to mobilize and take action on climate solutions. The program provides new resources, training, and targeted incentives grounded in solutions and benefits to help them move their communities toward local action and to support broader climate initiatives. As noted above, LANP empowers them toward greater ambition, restoration of nature and communities, and with an emphasis on disadvantaged communities that need help. Additionally, through LANP‚ Climate Ambassador program, incentives and Local Activism Micro Grants are offered to motivate, reward, and compensate individuals and organizations for visible climate action and advocacy.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our mission to build public support and political resolve for climate solutions is built on our commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI). JEDI is embedded in LANP with an emphasis on disadvantaged communities that need help to empower and engage local affiliates of national organizations and their millions of members in climate action. We believe that: *everyone has the right to live in a thriving world with access to clean air, water, and nature, secure from the threats of climate change and injustice; *we are responsible for rejecting oppression-blindness, acknowledging past complicity, recognizing where privilege exists, and helping to dismantle systems of racism, bigotry, and oppression that plague our country and manifest in environmental policy, landscapes, and organizations; *we can and must quickly transition to a clean energy economy and restore thriving nature in ways that support equitable education, health, justice, jobs, and prosperity, and compensate for damage and inequity. *the most effective and lasting solutions to our climate emergency will be those that prioritize climate justice and JEDI; climate discussions, plans and actions must include and equitably serve and benefit Black, indigenous, communities of color, youth, low income, rural, labor, and other communities who have faced systemic exclusion, disenfranchisement, and disinvestment; *we are stronger, and our work and outcomes more just and impactful when a diversity of people and abilities make up our staff, board, network and partners, and guide and inform our strategy, programs, research, resources, convenings, and outreach.

Mission Statement:
LANP reaches through our network of national partners to their state and local affiliates and members to engage them in climate action and advocacy at the personal, workplace, community, and policy levels. While the LANP program is offered nationwide, there are certain federal congressional districts where it will have greater impact on federal action for climate solutions. Based on thorough research and data analysis of swing potential, affinity for climate action, and potential to advance climate justice locally, we have selected 80 districts state-wide and nationally. The list of districts can be found at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CyPSECRiEu2__9vu0yuY7KBntKflucZ4/view and more information on the emphasis districts at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VPwFud1oE9r1FGOzxHvGw38b9WFD4ic1/view?usp=sharing.
