Uganda generates than 600 Metric tons of plastic waste everyday and less than 10% is recycled largely due to lack of efficient waste collection systems and the rest ends up in the environment, such as in open landfills, rivers, and waterways. On the other hand, about 1% of population in every urban city across Africa survive by scavenging recyclables and are unable to make a living wage from their activities, while millions of urban poor longish in extreme poverty yet seated on billion tons of waste, loosing billion of dollars in recyclables. Our solutions kills 3 birds with 1 stone as it addresses the needs through the following: Access to healthcare , payments using waste recyclables as premiums Improving sanitation & environment Creating Jobs for the distribution network and waste collectors Ugandans to monetize their waste recyclables improving waste recycling and generating income for Ugandans

There‚ no better solution to empower especially the marginalized on the climate agenda than a solution that improves recycling while offering Ugandan a way to earn incomes. 

Wasteinsure operated by Ecoplastile is for Individuals and Enterprises who are looking to make money or get better return from recyclable waste and Out-of-Use scrap-able items. We allow individuals who have open spaces to host collection outlets, become local collectors or manage operations by being a vendor, while duly rewarding all parties per kilogram recovered including our producer network; 

Waste Collection Agents (Hosts/Vendors): The Wasteinsure platform allows existing businesses and individuals host collection centers, hereby making business off their space for every ton of material collected on it. (Call it AirBnB for recyclables). 75% are youth and women ages 18-35 years. 

Grass root Waste Pickers: Are mobile field agents (usually existing mobile collectors or interested new individuals), equipped with our collection technology, IOT powered digital scales and Mobile carts. This group operates usually within a catchment area. 

Waste Producers: Producers across individuals, organizations and firms are engaged primarily through our USSD, Mobile and Web interfaces. This flexibility helps us connect with our varied user cross-section with the appropriate technology they have access to and are familiar with. Each month, Wasteinsure pays on average $15 to each household for recycling with its system, providing each with extra income. Ecoplastile has also facilitated the direct creation of 180 green jobs, with more economic impact expected as they continue to expand.

Ecoplastile is headquatered on plot 3732, Namanve Industrial Area, Seeta, Mukono Kampala-Uganda. Ecoplastile has a footprint in 11 cities in Uganda and has a network of over 1,250 waste collection agent network across all the regions of Uganda. In 18 months, Ecoplastile will become the leading African recycling infrastructure turning more than 1M everyday shops into plastic collection hubs, incentivizing post consumers to recycle, creating new value from plastic waste, closing the loop on 100's of billions of units of plastic and packaging materials by 2030 , post 18 months have presence in 10 cities in Sub Saharan Africa, and in 5 years target 3 continents (Africa, LATAM & South East Asia).
