Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The lack of self-sustainable business models is a big issue in the waste management sector. After collection of this segregated waste, we sell it to recyclers and in return generates revenue. To improve the financial viability of this business model we added an extra buffer of upcycled products in our revenue. It is a unique model of financial inclusion for the economically and socially poor. Our mechanism for up-cycling of waste material is not only helping the environment but also creating livelihood opportunities for women. To make such up-cycled products we formed a self-help group of underprivileged women and trained them. We provide them with waste material and infrastructure to make upcycled products out of waste. When these products get ready we sell and share revenue with these SHGs. We have improved their income by 100-150%. Every woman of SHG earning USD 1500-2000 per month by doing 3-4 hours work in a day.
