Project Summary / Description:

Educational Climate Solutions (ECS) works to educate students about the causes and effects of climate change as well as actions they can take to reduce emissions that cause climate change. Our group leads hands-on monthly outdoor lessons regarding the science behind climate change and its impacts to elementary school students.  ECS leads students in creating programs with their school or community to reduce emissions. By involving these students in real life solutions to climate change, they feel more empowered about the future of their environment.

ECS provide climate change education and greenhouse gas reducing solutions to elementary schools through hands-on lessons presented in an outdoor classroom.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

ECS empowers those underrepresented in the climate movement by promoting STEM education to all students with its climate change educational materials. Subjects include atmospheric science, electrical engineering, construction management, and general math. Furthermore, ECS‚ climate change curriculum encourages outdoor activities which tend to be lacking in communities of color. ECS will encourage participation of all students to ensure maximum equality. 

ECS supports economic diversity by providing environmental education to all schools in the region. Some of these schools may not have had the budget to include this type of curriculum. ECS will work to ensure all students have equal opportunity.
