Project Summary / Description:
Colombia is facing a solar power revolution, where the democratization of energy is today tangible. Some steps forward has been made by the Colombian government in 2014, when Law 1715 promoting energy efficiency and the use of non-conventional sources of energy, was created. Nevertheless, there is still a long way to go in developing renewables nationally and many entry barriers are found such as the unfamiliarity with the technology, the lack of knowledge of funding sources and processes, and the misperceptions of the economic benefits. During the pandemic, Emergente's innovation team developed a solution s to bring sustainable energy closer to the local industry and ordinary citizens through consultancy in energy transition and so, became the facilitator that supports the complete development of renewable energy projects for end-users. This was the beginning of SolarMarket, a project marketplace for solar energy, that uses a web-based app (https://www.emergente.com.co/cotiza-tu-proyecto-solar/) that gives customers quick financial figures about their customized project and finance alternatives, and then connects them with the best deployment solution. SolarMarket chooses the best combination of installers, equipment providers, insurtance and finance to have a solutions at the lowest price and hassle for the end-user. In that sense, it srengthens the value chain in the renewable energy industry by connecting energy companies with a massive the customer base.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
As the renewables industry is developing, most companies are focusing on growing and acquiring customers, but few of them are looking at end-users and to provide commercial leads for companies or services for the entire industry. Solar power is within reach for homeowners, institutions, and businesses, but people don't realize their opportunities. When private users are able to make decisions related to energy, it is possible to see a change in the use of it as an enabler for health, education, and the conservation of biodiversity. This is why one of our major focuses is the end-user and our main objective is to bring sustainability available to all and facilitate the implementation of sustainable energy systems through consultancy from the project‚ feasibility until its operation and maintenance with a one-stop-shop for its renewable systems. Emergente offers consulting services and software development for the implementation of clean energy projects, especially PV solar power. With SolarMarket we foster democratization and¬†energy independence by allowing the empowerment of the end-users¬†as producers and consumers so that everyone can generate their own energy from unconventional sources. Currently, we are focused on getting access to financing and tax benefits to¬†low-income consumers and being able to bring them plausible solar solutions. Additionally, the start-up encourages research and has strong alliances with educational institutions and governmental organizations to foster climate change initiatives, sustainable development, and social wellbeing of communities in Medell n. In the projects we leader or participate in, we act as advisors and technical support for shifting to clean energy and reducing carbon footprint.
