Project Summary / Description:

Forge Nano is commercializing high-throughput powder upgrading technology, this project would involve the refinement and development of the next generation of our prototype high-throughput ALD coating systems for industrial application. The major application for FNs technology is the stabilization of Li-ion battery electrode powders, which can dramatically improve battery performance across a wide range of metrics. The ALD technology has existed on the laboratory scale, but our innovative technology has allowed us to scale up the approach, and positioned us to make inroads into the electric vehicle market. We are developing the technology on two main fronts, the first is electrochemical, in the development of new better performing ALD coatings. The second approach is towards better and more efficient industrial scale system designs, which will allow us to meet the high demand of the automotive industry. While our technology comprises only ALD nanocoating of powders, the desired application and coating material dramatically effects the process design and configuration. Through the development of an array of system designs, we will be more ready to implement our technology to meet the needs of our prospective customers in the battery and other sectors. This scope of industrial systems design and implementation is a major undertaking.
