Project Summary / Description:
From Waste To Wind was born in the open-source world and founded as a non-profit two years ago after winning the 10000$ Hackaday prize with the ultimate aim of democratizing renewable energy. Existing models failed to bring sustainable energy to the general public. Bad quality windturbines, bad siting and general abstinence because of the multitude of questionmarks when choosing a windturbine. FW2W solves these problems through designing and manufacturing open-source windturbines that are 3D-printed from recycled materials and and open-source MPPT-controllers that allow charging batteries while also keeping the windturbine at its most efficient speed. Not alone are the windturbines made to disassemble and fully circular, through new delivery model called ‚ Electricity-As-A-Service‚ the user doesn‚ t have to go through the difficulties of permission planning, siting, maintenance and recycling of the windturbine. In return a monthly fee is expected from the end-user which flows back to the company and its investors.

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)
Best Estimate of GHG Avoidance/Reduction of This Project (Tonnes CO2 Equivalent/Year):
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our smallest windturbines can easily be mass manufacturered by the crowd through 3D-printing. This is especially useful when communities don‚ t have access to production facilities or are suddenly struck by a disaster. Furthermore we share a lot of how-to‚ through social media and different maker for a (‚Ķ) and social media. Furthermore FW2W gives workshops on how to make your own windturbine, how to combine with PV solar panels, and where to install them for good windspeeds.
