When California and Quebec announced a cap & trade scheme for GHG emissions in 2010, GHGSat's founder and CEO, Stephane Germain, understood that operators would have a need for cost-effective and accurate measurements of their emissions and that satellite monitoring could provide a compelling solution.

GHGSat supports diversity both externally with our efforts to mitigate climate change and internally with our corporate values. 

Externally: Climate change disproportionately impacts economically disadvantaged communities and according to many international organizations, women suffer the majority of the burden. 

According to the UN, 80% of people displaced by climate change are women. Addressing and mitigating climate change will not undo the systemic conditions which create and maintain gender and financial inequality, but it can provide contemporary and future generations with more time to develop strategies and create the infrastructure to improve their community's resilience and allow them to better adapt to a changing environment. 

Furthermore, the costs associated with monitoring individual wells using our platform, when compared to traditional methods, will have a lower cost and present less of a barrier to extraction, stimulating economies, create jobs, and provide cheaper access to energy. 

Internally: GHGSat supports diversity and inclusivity as an organization with our corporate values and hiring practices.
