Project Summary / Description:
In 2017, a retired building framer and a retired Wall Street executive joined forces to take the framer‚ simple idea to build faster and re-engineer it as one of our strongest nature-based climate solutions. Humanity faces two simultaneous crises: climate change and a critical housing shortage. These crises also intersect as buildings produce 39% of all GNG and climate change is making large parts of the world uninhabitable due to rising wet-bulb temperatures that require a new building stock to address. While true globally, this is most intense in the Global South, which has the greatest building demand and growing climate inhabitability. To address both issues, BamCore manufactures nature‚ fastest-growing fibers‚Äîtimber bamboo and Eucalyptus‚Äîinto next-generation building components that substantially improve the thermal performance of buildings while also removing CO2 from the atmosphere and storing it as biogenic carbon in building frames for generations.

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses), Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption), Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)
Best Estimate of GHG Avoidance/Reduction of This Project (Tonnes CO2 Equivalent/Year):
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
A. Supply Chain. Unlike wood, bamboo is not yet grown in large plantations. Thus, our supply chain significantly depends on a network of local and indigenous people in many countries across the Global South, where bamboo grows naturally. Indigenous knowledge is used to help identify locations of natural stands of bamboo, to explain the harvest and treatment practices best used for the local species, and to guide and conduct the post-harvest processing activities. Though not universally, the planting and management of new bamboo-centered agroforestry systems are often executed through teams of local women working cooperatively within a village or a group of villages. While harvesting activities continue to be male-dominated, planting and processing/factory work is often female-dominated (depending on the location). B. Job Site. The extreme simplification of our installation relieves dependence on skilled labor and English language dependence and can drive job creation for low-income, unskilled labor in the form of construction jobs.

Mission Statement:
BamCore‚ Prime Wall‚Ñ¢ is a carbon-negative low-rise commercial & residential framing system. We engineer fast-growing biogenic fibers (timber bamboo and Eucalyptus) to capture atmospheric carbon and store it long-term in the structural frames of buildings. In addition, the Prime Wall‚Ñ¢ system improves the performance of the building envelope, drastically reducing operating carbon emissions. And with our innovative industrialized construction techniques, we reduce waste, speed up construction cycles, and open the labor pool to include less skilled workers. While we sell our products initially in the US market, we also see demand in the UK, EU, AU, NZ, India and more. BamCore has established the first global supply chain for timber bamboo, spanning four continents and almost 20 countries. Our expertise and proprietary knowledge in bamboo are one of our core competitive advantages, and we have 22 patents issued for our current and future product lines.
