Primary Project Category:
Project Summary / Description:
The project arises from the commitment assumed by Buenos Aires for the reduction of emissions, oriented to carbon-neutrality in 2050. It has been determined that the greatest energy impact can be achieved through the modification of the population's energy consumption habits (reduction of up to 20% of the emissions attributable to stationary energy by optimizing the use of household energy). The use of solar thermal energy in vulnerable social sectors is promoted. In this way, a segment of the population not reached by formal education is taught about energy efficiency and use of renewable energy

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The neighborhood clubs offer their facilities for non-formal education, the cultural promotion of all their members and the neighborhood community to which they belong. Traditionally they promote values such as respect for the environment and promote social inclusion and collective integration. For this reason, we consider that focusing the project on this type of institutions will support economic diversity, collaborating with the equitable access of the most socially vulnerable sectors of the city of Buenos Aires to efficient and clean ways of using energy, bringing them good practices and generation technologies renewal to the most delayed sectors of the city. In terms of supporting gender diversity, the aim is to involve and train energy referents in clubs that are preferably women (today they represent around 30% in technical activities), placing them as multiples of knowledge and good practice in their homes as in their immediate social environment. There is a high proportion of women in charge of households in the most vulnerable socio-economic sector, to which this project is directed preferentially, so it is crucial to involve them to achieve a greater impact.
