Project Summary / Description:
Our vision is to create democratic, decentralized and renewable energy environment, with citizens and local communities actively engaged and put in the center of the energy transition. The SOL4ALL project aims to increase resilience of local communities on multiple levels, encourage economic recovery through private investments (new solar capacity) and green jobs (mobilizing solar entrepreneurs and providing opportunity for unemployed people to get employable skills). Digital platform On the Sunny Side is the most distinctive output, serving as one-stop shop for citizens interested to invest in solar PV system for self-consumption, utilized as a matchmaking and community activation tool.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Model of energy cooperatives can help reducing social injustice: women and citizens with low incomes can participate in energy transition as cooperative member. Among total of 20 members of Green Energy Cooperative, women and men are equally represented. The large-scale roll-out of roof-top solar PV bears a high potential of creating new jobs both directly and indirectly through boosting auxiliary services in design, solar panels assembling, installations, operation, education and training. The project is providing opportunities for unemployed people and youth to get employable skills as solar installers, and become solar ambassadors in their local communities (through certified training program in collaboration with educational partner and open webinars). There is huge untapped potential for solar PV in Croatia. Citizens are still mainly passive bystanders in the energy market and system overall, while local resources are utilized by foreign investors. The Platform is a key element of the developed business model for community-led solarization ‚ focused on citizens as integral part of clean energy transition. Through the Platform we make solar more affordable and the process easier for citizens. Thus, we encourage them to become and feel more in control, produce and consume their own energy, and make decisions that have a positive effect on the whole community ‚ in terms of environment, climate change, local economy, more jobs, resilience. Investing in roof-top solar PV creates an immediate impact for citizens, seen right away on their electricity bill (saving money), and contribute to making our country less dependent on expensive and imported fossil fuels (we import half of the annual gross energy used.
