Project Summary / Description:

This project is an evaluation project of the waste management system implemented in the Greeneration Foundation coastal village located on the Banyuwangi coastline. It is known that the management of plastic waste can produce carbon emissions into the air (plastic carbon emission) so an evaluation of the management system in this village is needed. In addition, as a form of carbon absorption solution that is released into the atmosphere, a calculation of the estimated carbon absorption by mangrove trees in the assisted villages is carried out. The method used is a qualitative method in which we take into account the carbon emissions released and invite the whole community to care about the release of carbon. We also calculate how the carbon emissions are absorbed by mangrove trees by planting, monitoring and evaluating their growth over a period of three to five years.

We will empower local communities by educating our local champions about the dangers of plastic carbon emissions, conservation values to the relationship between conservation values and carbon reduction as a mitigation to reduce the impact of climate change.
