Project Summary / Description:
Greenore has been committed to the lab-to-market effort for carbon mineralization and industrial waste utilization, a spin-off from Columbia University. Via industrial co-location, Greenore is turning CO2 and steel slag into calcium carbonate, iron oxide and calcium ferrite which are feedstock for iron and steel, paper, plastic and paint. A green new supply chain is forming while the original goal is to solve the slag issue particularly in China. Through making slag based carbon mineralization economically feasible, Greenore and industrial partners around the globe are building infrastructures which could eventually be used to sequester CO2 using natural Ca/Mg bearing minerals.

Greenore embraces the principle of supporting women scientist and engineer for entrepreneurship and climate change fighting engagement. Greenore is also ready to implement its technologies anywhere in the world because we deeply believe that climate change is a common issue for the humanity and the technology should be implemented at needs globally, without border. Particularly, the site of the scale-up effort is close to the border of China and Mongolia where natural resources are rich. However, large-scale extraction of ores has exposed the local communities to potential environmental and climate impacts. We deeply believe that, by solving the solid waste and carbon issues at the same time via a sustainable pathway, we are helping the local communities to restore a nature-industrial balance and preserve the precious Mongolian prairie and its culture.
