Project Summary / Description:

SinCarbono is a software that facilitates creating carbon inventories and energy assessments for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). We promote energy efficiency by enabling operational savings while minimizing environmental impact to fight climate change. Additionally, we offer realistic solutions based on science-based targets to quantify and implement ad hoc mitigation measures. 

During November 2020 and May 2021, sustainable diagnostics were conducted on more than 20 Latin American ventures and it was detected that there was no progress in carbon footprint measurement. Therefore, from May 2021 onwards, the idea of developing the sinCarbono software became much stronger. From August 2021 the first validation of technical functionalities began, as well as the development of the first MVP and review of the functionalities. During this stage a group of experts in business & software development, data visualization, carbon inventories, and implementation of energy efficiency projects were involved to improve the concept and give feedback. Formally, on January 2, 2022 the company gruntium SAS was registered in order to begin pilot and validation operations with real clients for the sinCarbono software.

sinCarbono‚ business model acknowledges the social inequalities in Latin America that affect small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Though strategic tools such as energy assessments and carbon inventories are widely used by businesses to reduce their environmental impact and operational costs, these tools are expensive, which makes it very difficult for SMEs to invest in these for their business. This makes a significant differentiation in the active participation of companies in the climate movement, regardless of their willingness to contribute to the fight against climate change. 

sinCarbono believes that every business should have the opportunity to contribute to the climate movement. Therefore, sinCarbono facilitates access to these strategic tools for the design of carbon reduction strategies and the identification of energy efficiency solutions for SMEs. 
This empowers small and medium business owners to lead the climate movement and educate others on business models that reject the patriarchal and capitalist model of exploitation of natural resources. These business owners will have testimonies on how to operate SMEs and generate profit with a minimal environmental impact.
