Project Summary / Description:
The One Billion Trees Campaign was launched in 2019. A Not For Profit with the sole intent and purpose of purchasing land allotments that border National Parks to create Wild Release Sanctuary Lands for endangered or at risk native animals. Protecting precious habitats for both human and animal generations for years to come. The reasoning behind purchasing lands that border National Parks can benefit by all animals with in both the sanctuary lands as well as the National Parks by increasing the territory or roaming areas of wildlife freely across both. After the Australian Summer Bushfire season of 2019/20 that resulted in over 184 million hectares of land burnt along with the devastating loss of three billion animals in one summer fire season alone. This lead to us launching the One Billion Tree Campaign in an attempt to counter balance these devastating losses and protect whatever is left. Many experts claim that multiple Australian species are, without human intervention, protection and breeding programs are in fact destined for extinction in our lifetime. There are multiple ways people or organisations can help by purchase food and habitat trees as well as the land that each tree grows upon as part of each protected sanctuary. Every $50.00 can pay for a tree to be planted and registered on the protection asset register. That same tree is also a food or habitat for an animal and a carbon sink for the planet. The $50.00 also pays for the land that each tree will be planted on. These trees are placed upon a legal asset register to protect them and allow for Carbon Capture Measures for each acre of land within the sanctuaries. In the short to medium term we are about to embark on the long process of registering the carbon capture with the relevant authorities and look to obtain appropriate license or certification to buy and sell carbon credits. The reasoning behind this move is to add more financial value to the environment as a global carbon asset as well as funds raised from such carbon credits being directed towards further wild release sanctuary land purchases. Maximising the desired outcomes for all. In 2025 we have undergone a significant name change to become "Wild Release Sanctuaries". Our name change is a significant positive step for us to create a new stronger legal entity that has adapted and changed with developing protection laws.

How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
Each Eucalyptus tree that we plant captures or sequestrates CO2 from the atmosphere once they reach a maturity of 3-4 plus years. A eucalyptus tree can absorb 15 tonnes of CO2 per year (once mature). With a ambitious and an yet achievable goal of One Billion Trees we therefore have our sights set upon 15 Billion Tonnes of carbon capture or sequestration per year and simultaneously providing secure, protected and funded Wild Release Sanctuary lands for Endangered Wildlife and native animals at risk alike.
Best Estimate of GHG Avoidance/Reduction of This Project (Tonnes CO2 Equivalent/Year):

Clean water and sanitation
Affordable and clean energy
Decent work and economic growth
Industry innovation and infrastructure
Reduced inequalities
Sustainable cities and communities
Responsible consumption and production
Climate action

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Within the One Billion Tree Campaign we have many platforms and ways that everyone can become involved. We have made it so that every day commercial purchases for households can be offset with the trees planted while creating protected sanctuary land. From small Children to Senior Citizens and of all abilities, ethnicities, religious beliefs or social economic groups can participate.
