HIveMind began twelve years ago when Joseph Kelly used Paul Stamet's mycelium based solutions to address the world's two existential problems: catastrophic climate change and nuclear catastrophes like Fukushima.

Our first project was to extend the Chicago Green Roof's mission to sequestering CO2. Through a dozen sites, we proved that inoculating green roofs with a blend of mycelium species could sequester tons of CO2 creating a mycelium carbon vault. The next five years were spent in the American Southwest using mycelium to bioremediate radioactive sites on Native American reservations that were threatening human health.

HiveMind offers a biological solution to stopping and reversing climate change in our lifetime. We pioneered the use of mycelium in conjunction with green roofs to sequester hundreds of tons of CO2e. We have two of the world's largest CO2 emitters as clients: Cummins Diesel and Shell Oil.
