Project Summary / Description:
The movement of goods is the fastest growing sector of transportation. Yet, this sector‚ contribution to air pollution is a significant cost to the world‚ air quality and climate. Hydra Energy is transitioning the trucking industry to green hydrogen power, by quickly converting existing diesel semi-trucks to its dual hydrogen-diesel injection system and supplying those trucks with green hydrogen to fleet owners for less than they currently pay for diesel fuel. Excess hydrogen not used by commercial fleet customers is then sold to natural gas distributors looking to cost-effectively increase the renewable portion of their natural gas.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Jessica Verhagen, is the COO of Hydra Energy, working to raise capital for the company to further develop its technology and scale operations to make a bigger impact. Without her leadership and dedication to creating a cleaner environment, Hydra Energy would not be able to make the impact it is now capable of. Jessica also has played an important role in guiding some of North America‚ first legislation and stakeholder engagement on emissions reporting, emissions trading, carbon taxes and offsets. Her leadership led the government‚ work within the industry to implement carbon pricing internally, plan their compliance strategies and provide the government with recommendations to further advance the low carbon economy. She is an invaluable asset to Hydra as the company seeks to fight climate change and advocate for those in vulnerable communities that feel the effects much harder than other areas.
