Project Summary / Description:
InPlanet is dedicated to permanently removing Gt of CO2 from the atmosphere while simultaneously regenerating soils. Our vision is to become the industry leader and an internationally recognized expert in Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW). In today's world, companies with strong net-zero goals seek ways to offset their unavoidable CO2 emissions to align with global climate objectives. By conducting high-quality ERW carbon dioxide removal projects, InPlanet positions itself as a trustworthy company offering permanent, reliable, affordable, scalable, and nature-based carbon removal credits (CRCs). InPlanet’s projects include acquiring and transporting basaltic rock powder from quarries/mines and providing it to farmers as fertilizer to sequester carbon in their farmland. This unique approach places InPlanet in a distinctive position within the carbon market, with rigorously science-based CRCs validated by extensive and proprietary field data, addressing the critical market needs for transparency, permanence, and traceability.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Rock powders originating from local mines can be considered as independence fertilizers for climate vulnerable small scale farmers who cannot access and/or afford conventional fertilizers(https://edepot.wur.nl/98590). However, in the context of Brazil, the issue goes far beyond small-scale farmers, as the transition to locally sourced rock powders is directly related to Brazil's food security and national independence from global fertilizer supply chains. Currently 70-90% of synthetic farming inputs in the agricultural sector are imports, partially from geopolitically unstable locations (Geotherapy,2014, Chapter: Stonemeal: Principles, Potential, and Perspectives from Brazil). By catalyzing this new market, new jobs are created in the oftentimes rural areas where rock powders are applied, in laboratory and analytical segments, and in the transport and freight sector . Importantly, the resulting value creation remains as local as possible, allowing first and foremost municipally/locally/family owned businesses, mines and transport companies to benefit and build the above mentioned capacities.
