Objective of the innovation:
We believe Biogas is the best decentralised energy solutions with an added benefit of waste treatment at source and hence, we plan to expand the program in different parts of India.
Rationale behind the innovation:
Lack of access to modern energy amongst the poor in India is a major roadblock towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a crucial development challenge facing the country. More than 400 million Indians still have no access to electricity, which inhibits education, income generation, and access to information. 31% of Indian households rely on kerosene for lighting, which provides poor quality light and poses health challenges. In addition, traditional biomass, constituting of fuelwood, crop residue and cowdung cake, remains the main energy source for cooking in rural areas, used by nearly 86% of rural households in India3. Fuelwood collection for biomass energy in rural India, remains a burden borne almost exclusively by women and children. 
Domestic organic waste generated in households is a biomass reserve that can be potentially harnessed for generating renewable energy as well as for solving the problem of responsible waste disposal. Domestic organic waste disposal remains an imminent hygiene and sanitation issue in the Indian context as its irresponsible management leads not only to diseases and bad odor but also contributes significantly to global warming through methane emissions by decaying organic waste which contributes to climate change.
