Project Summary / Description:
Litro de Luz tries to solve two main problems: lack of energy that accroding to UN affects 770 million people, and the absence of internet that as stated by weforum.org impacts 3.4 billion people. The lack of electricity and Internet are related to a new dimension of poverty that is called Digital Poverty, which increased due to the coronavirus crisis. This leads not only to inequality but insecurity, lack of entertainment spaces, lack of access to educational or health content, among others. "The higher purpose of Litro de Luz is to be light to the world"

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our intervention is carried out in communities of difficult access, which are in conditions of extreme poverty and do not have the services of energy, lighting and internet, we are focused on communities in rural areas affected by the conflict, we are committed to mitigate the digital and energy poverty offering for the first time lighting, energy and access to information to inhabitants who find  in ELIoT tools to overcome poverty.

In addition, we have a social intervention where products are built in the field. This social intervention methodology has several phases where we get closer to the communities:

Field visit and understanding of the problem.
Workshop on innovation and appropriation of technology
 Ambassadors of Light Training Program
 Impact Measurement Report.
Our competitive advantage is based on 5 pillars of sustainability:

Robust Technology: This allows us to establish long term relationships with communities.
Social Innovation: Always be one step ahead in developing products and services that meet the needs of the most vulnerable sectors.
Human Development: Understood as the tools that we can offer to the communities that allow them to transform their reality and find opportunities to overcome poverty.
Sustainable Profit: We are clear that to achieve our objectives we must be financially profitable, so profit is a fundamental pillar of our operation.
Renewable Energy: Aligned with the care of the planet. Litro de Luz is a project that since its inception has been focused on a completely neglected sector of the population which has been forgotten by both, the State and the private sector. Communities in extreme poverty have been stigmatized for years, depriving them of solutions to solve their problems or contribute to their development.

Since the creation of ELISA®, the purpose was to provide it with qualities that would break this paradigm, this is how ELISA® responds to deliver a solution capable of providing Energy, Light, that was Inclusive, Sustainable and Affordable. Once this achievement was reached, we challenged ourselves as a team to come up with something new in order to increase the impact and benefit in the communities to close the digital divide and that is how in 2015 ELIoT was born.  This product, like ELISA® responds to deliver Energy, Light and integrate Internet of Things to offer digital literacy solutions thanks to our offline content delivery software. Enhancing the ability to store content of any kind and its deployment of wireless internet networks in areas where before Litro de Luz was unthinkable and impossible.  Through our methodology Ambassadors of Light we have graduated and empowered +19,000 young and adolescents, all inhabitants in rural and remote areas where our projects are executed.
