Project Summary / Description:
As I previously mentioned, I had bad health condition- cancer cells. After trying the conventional medical treatments without success, I've found my solution in changing my lifestyle and going green. Organic food was my medicine, but it was too expensive. At that time I was unemployed single mother of two children and we lived on welfare, so I could barely buy food , I couldn't afford organic. So I started growing on my own. Doing the research while growing, I found out that food waste is possibly the best growing medium for organic and clean food, so in that moment the business idea was born. This was in 2013, now in 2018 we already have developed and already selling 5 different types of soil amendments. We want to scale up by buying solar powered machine, which will increase our daily waste treatment from 1 ton to 20 tons of food waste.

Mission Statement:
MamaOrgana produces organic fertilizers and substrates for clean food production from food waste. 40% of the food meant to be eaten ends up at the landfills polluting the air with CO2 and methane and creating disposal costs. It is a global problem and statistics are same all over the world. From the others side in our country 1/3 from the population is living at the edge of poverty, with barely one meal a day. Our company delivers solution-we employ people from marginalized categories, single parents, who collect and transform food waste in to organic fertilizers. With this activity, we take care for the environment and for ourselves.
