Primary Project Category:
Project Summary / Description:
With the loss of demand from public transport users for other less sustainable means of transport, the City of Fortaleza developed a sustainable mobility policy that prioritizes public transport. Among the projects implemented, the creation of dedicated bus lanes is the flagship. With changes in road signage, destining a lane, previously shared by other vehicles, exclusively for buses and making use of electronic monitoring, it was noted the gain in operational speed of the buses, the incentive to use the modal, and the reduction of gas emissions.

60% of public transport users are women. In terms of the economic and social situation, 90.52% of users are students, have no income, or receive only up to 2 minimum wages whilst 87.59% at most, completed high school.
