Project Summary / Description:
Due to the pandemic, the schools were shut down and contact activities could not be conducted but the need to engage the children productively was important. So in June 2020, the nature & nutrition program was rolled out to impart experiential learning to children .This program focused not only on developing life skills in children but also to Develop bond with nature. This entails each child planting and nurturing a fruit tree sapling at their home and later sharing fruits with others. The objective was to get children to do things with their own hands, learn & share knowledge about fruits and trees, team with their village community, and appreciate farming. This year, Value of Water(Jal vriddhi) program was rolled out where we build water ponds to harvest rain water to increase the ground water table and plant saplings to prevent soil erosion in the farms.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
We have identified, trained and enabled 245+ women in all the 245 villages we are present in. In their roles as village co-ordinators and area facilitators they have enabled community mobilization through awareness sessions and active participation of the members with farmers coming forward to allow water ponds to be constructed in their farms and grow saplings around the bunds to prevent soil erosion. For the nature & nutrition program parents, teachers and the village community have come forward to provide land for the fruit saplings to be grown and also taking responsibility to support the children to take care of it.
