Project Summary / Description:
This battery was developed to enable intermittent renewable electricity sources to cost-effectively meet demand. Current solar and wind power sources require costly and polluting gas peaking power plants because available energy storage technologies are too expensive. Noon energy‚ battery will provide long-duration storage to fully balance solar/wind, making it possible to provide dispatchable renewable power at low cost, while simultaneously achieving carbon-free electricity. Currently Noon‚ battery has been developed and tested at lab scale, proving the concept which has launched the development of market solutions with this technology.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Economic and gender diversity is an important core value to Noon Energy. Noon Energy‚ current team is comprised of a balance of both genders, with Christopher Graves and Kalee Whitehouse, a minority female, as the co-founders. Noon Energy is an equal opportunity employer in the state of California and prides itself on diversity in the workplace. Successful development of this new battery technology will provide not only jobs in our local community, but also decrease the costs of energy storage for a wide range of markets across the globe. This includes more affordable home solar based power storage, decreased cost of ownership in electric vehicles, and a decrease in cost of operation in grid tied energy management. Through this cost reduction, low income and disadvantaged communities will gain access to technology that has previously been cost prohibitive. Overall, success of bringing our technology to market would equate to large economic benefits and opportunities worldwide.
