Project Summary / Description:

We are working to develop a project in partnership with the UNFCCC and Climate Neutral Now that will enable all New Yorkers to pursue carbon neutrality in support of NYC's wider goals. While our office is pursuing major and transformative goals to achieve deep carbon reductions, NYC residents lack a clear call to action about how they can become part of the solution. A digital platform that guides New Yorkers through the steps to achieving carbon neutrality including, 1) calculating emissions, 2) customized advice on reducing emissions, 3) a marketplace for offsetting, and 4) a space to aggregate impact, compare and share progress, and educate on the wider mission, will empower New Yorkers to be part of the solution and part of a larger movement. This is an opportunity for education, engagement, and action. We are also working in partnership with 10 major cities around the world, C40, and other organizations to multiply the impact of this project through scale.

We have committed to reducing NYC's carbon footprint 80% by 2050, to accelerating our progress in the next three years to align with the ambition of the Paris Agreement, and to developing strategies to attain carbon neutrality. All of our work is guided by four visions for NYC: growth, equity, sustainability, and resiliency.
