Project Summary / Description:

The Project aims to contribute to the preservation and sustainable management of the natural resources of the traditional Gabio forest and its surroundings while strengthening the adaptive capacities of indigenous and local communities to climate change.
Our project was developed and implemented in 2017 following desertification, the recurrence of global warming and the degradation of land and biodiversity, which have a strong impact on the main levers of economic growth, social cohesion, stability and security in Burkina Faso in general and in the Gabio area in particular.

Our organization sets up dialogue frameworks made up of representatives of the various stakeholders, including those who are traditionally under-represented in the climate movement, at the level of each climate project it implements.
Meetings for exchanges, planning, monitoring and evaluation and sharing of experiences, knowledge and lessons learned from the implementation of projects are organized.
These vulnerable groups who take part in our meetings, carry their voice, express their needs and concerns which are taken into account in our projects.
Also, learning is done in the field through the organization of in situ training workshops for the benefit of women, people of color, young people, people with disabilities, communities vulnerable to the climate, etc. in order to build their capacity for empowerment.
Also, our organization carries their voice to the different levels where it has the opportunity to be invited and to speak.

Mission Statement:

The O.N.D, which is a non-governmental organization, advocates participatory sustainable development, agro-ecology and gender based on volunteering for the care of populations by themselves.
It was officially recognized on September 4, 1995, for the first time, under Receipt of Recognition No. 95-0248/MAT/SG/DGAT/DLPAJ of September 4, 1995.
It has 196 member village groups, 139 clubs and 72 village management committees.
It has 8,670 members, including: 3,970 men and 4,700 women, and the number is increasing gradually. It is represented in the Democratic Republic of Congo by a national branch officially recognized by the competent authorities.
The Gabio site, the project intervention area covers an area of approximately 1,000 km2, it is located in the commune of T√¥, province of Sissili, Center-West Region in Burkina Faso.
