Project Summary / Description:
Climate change affects everything from agriculture to our everyday lives, Musical Agriculture (MA) uses the power of music, arts and poetry to build inclusive learning communities, stakeholders to affirm identity and build cultural and human connections. I would watch farmers complain, while carrying their food stuff under the sun and rain every day, to the market but no buyers because of low productivity. Inspired by that dream, a diverse team of young professionals from multiple multinational development institutions initiated a visual arts program in Nigeria to tackle the problem of climate change .

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our projects empower women to achieve long-term goals as well as providing support through periods of food crisis and uncertainty. When you empower a woman, you drive development both within and beyond her own household. In Nigeria, women‚ economic empowerment is an issue of global importance. This is because women invest 90% of their income back into their families and communities, which benefits both their immediate society and the wider economy. This is the premise on which the People Environment and Sustainability Foundation (PEAS) is built. The women and the youth we support tell us that they have been able to transform their lives of their families as a result of the projects we run, in terms of matching them with a mentor, accessing financial services via a mobile phone or gaining the skills they need to take their businesses to the next level. PEAS Foundation has developed an ambitious vision to make a real difference on issues such as climate change and global poverty across generations from environmental degradation and increase its positive social impact through the PEAS Strategic Plan. Today, PEAS Foundation has trained over 5,000 women in agriculture to build their financial, technical, and entrepreneurial skills and provides them with the self-confidence they need to start their own commercial cassava farms; presently the organization has created a strong network of over 1000 farmers, 5000+ students and 500 teachers and 500 ambassadors in community environmental education programs, afforestation and conservation and soil restoration through agriculture and environment. We have planted trees in various schools. By offering innovative educational and cultural opportunities with an emphasis on the arts, beauty and respect, under her leadership, People Environment and Sustainability Foundation has empowered over 10,000 women and youths in ICT in Nigeria to restore hope and dignity and become creative agric contributors to their communities. The example of her life and successful career has inspired others to dream bigger and make a difference in the world.
