Project Summary / Description:
Quadcycle Automobile is an electric vehicle and solar powered battery charge station manufacturers in Nigeria. The idea came up in 2015 after a study on the climate impact of 3 wheelers in the environment. There was a massive increase in the number and an estimated 5 million 3 wheelers are currently operating in Nigeria. We decided to try and create a locally made alternative that will offer better services while being environmentally friendly. Quadcycle Automobile was finally registered as a limited liability company in 2018.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our target is to provide affordable clean transportation to individuals in Nigeria and Africa. Currently an average household in Nigeria spends more than 50% of their income on transportation ( https://guardian.ng/business-services/poverty-peaks-as-income-to-transport-ratio-rises/) and this is with subsides on petroleum products. With increasing cost off living and possibility of removing subsidies, transportation cost are bound to go up. Our vehicles use solar energy. This makes it possible to offer lower transportation fares and still make more profit, thereby benefiting the poor people and the vehicle operators. We will also be providing solar lighting to schools within the communities where operate to encourage education and safety.
