¬†Nearly all of our end customers are women, as women traditionally cook the meals.¬† Millions of women globally die every year from the daily pervasiveness of smoke from cooking.¬† According to the UN Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (http://cleancookstoves.org/country-profiles/15-ethiopia.html), over 89 million of the 90 million Ethiopians are affected by household air pollution, which is predominantly created by cooking, with over 45,000 deaths per year, 21,000 of which are children.¬† This is the same number of deaths due to malaria, twice the number of deaths due to tuberculosis, but in the case of indoor pollution, curable for the whole family with a cookstove. 
From our efforts to-date, we estimate that each stove sold helps one family.¬† The average family in Ethiopia is 4.8 people. With over 250,000 stoves sold to-date, we thus estimate the impact of the charcoal stove reaching nearly 1 million people.
