Project Summary / Description:
Access to clean electricity will unlock national and global opportunities to over 70million Nigerians (and over 600million Africans) currently living without power. Our study which involves interviews with more than 200 Nigerians who lack access to much-needed electricity shows that most off-grid energy solutions are static solutions offered above the spending power of their users. Furthermore, existing energy-solutions are bulky and are not designed to sustainably address the increasing energy demands of Nigerians. However, Reeddi‚ solution is mobile and uniquely structured to affordably accommodate the present and future energy needs of Nigerians while also providing economic-opportunities through its operations.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project brings economic prosperity to our customers and their community. Our customers save more than 30% of their energy expenses when they use the Reeddi system. Also, our infrastructure operation, maintenance, and logistics process create local employment and huge economic opportunities in our operating communities. Furthermore, Reeddi‚ innovation create more energy-based businesses in our operating community and increase the standard of living of households while reducing their C02 emission footprint. Gender diversity is at the core of our project objectives. A UNDP report show that indoor pollution from the use of fuel-based energy substitutes has a severe adverse health impact on women and girls. Our innovation has significant positive economic and health outcomes for women, girls, and children. Our project empowers women taking into consideration their unique roles, as economic drivers of the society.
