Climate Curve

Project Summary / Description:

The current problem of Nicaraguan livestock is the low productivity per hectare, the degradation of pastures and progress towards reserve areas and protected areas. In the project area, 5,866 cattle producers face 329,168 head of cattle that advances by exposing themselves to climatic risk, depleting a forest area of ‚Äã‚Äã34,371.82 and 30,637.10 hectares deforested and 265,486.42 hectares with natural pastures and in the path of degradation. The process towards a green livestock with good livestock practices to save greenhouse gas and / or increase carbon fixation, requires access to low-cost credit, access to technology, knowledge applied to the implementation of investments and gas-saving practices. greenhouse effect. The institutional innovation will demonstrate to 5 thousand producers, 24 microfinance institutions and producer associations that the green finance model of Nitlapan and FDL contributes to an effective reduction of greenhouse gas (30% of enteric methane) and that increases the fixation of carbon (CO2) at ground level with the best vegetation cover (3371.902 tons CO2). The FDL will grant green financing adapted to the technical calendar investments, in addition to providing incentive against results of change by the producer), Nitlapan provides technical assistance for the formulation, implementation of investments and practices that reduce greenhouse gases and / or fix carbon and that at the same time contribute to improve the productivity of livestock.

Mission Statement:

We are an institute of the UCA, a social work of the Jesuits, of research and development allied with the FDL that seeks to promote inclusive models of development at a territorial and national level, with a gender approach, through non-financial technical assistance services and training. , interventions in value chains and capacity building, combining experimentation of novel processes, generation of methods, research, academic and professional training
