Project Summary / Description:
Restore Our Climate is dedicated to restoring the Earth‚ climate by developing science, technology, logistical, and financial solutions for the dispersal of iron chloride salts, also known as Iron Salt Aerosol (ISA). When dispersed into the atmosphere, low concentrations of ISA, in the presence of sunlight, can stabilize the climate system by reducing methane (CH4) levels. This is a method of climate restoration or repair, which can be part of bringing the global climate back to pre-industrial levels, where CO2 levels are kept below 300 parts per million. We are on the path to immediate deployment.

Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
We are working on the issue of diversity in our group. Our board has three women, with four women participating in our meetings on a regular basis. Other members of our team include a college student from Sri Lanka, and a scientist from Ecuador, both of whom now live in the US. As we grow, we will reach out to Indigenous people as well as people in climate-vulnerable communities, including members of the 38 nations in the United Nation‚ Small Island Developing States. Students in the masters and PhD programs on climate change at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, where Dr. Wadhams is a visiting professor, are also assisting with the research. We understand that organizations are stronger with diverse membership. We plan to expand opportunities and influence for people who have long been marginalized, and to have a wide range of perspectives influencing our decisions. As Restore Our Climate has a global mission, we need to further internationalize our outreach and publicity to explain ourselves and to seek legitimacy and guidance from people around the globe. We value diversity, justice, and safety guidelines such as in the Jemez Principles (9) for Democratic Organizing.
